Who

Paul Sørensen

Hi, I’m Paul Sørensen – a tech enthusiast with a lifelong passion for servers, scripting, and cloud infrastructure. My love for technology started early: I’ve been using the internet since its early days in Denmark, and at 13 years old, I bought my first 33.6k modem and a internet subscription from Image Scandinavia at an internet conference in Forum, Copenhagen. The internet was a different place back then ;-).

That sparked a journey that led me to running servers on Linux, FreeBSD, and Windows Server since the first versions of Red Hat Linux and Windows NT4, managing everything from AD, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, IIS, Apache, Tomcat, Nginx, MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle, Solr, MongoDB, RavenDB, FTP, SSH, IRC bots, TeamSpeak, Ventrilo, Mumble, and more – some I’ve probably forgotten.

I started with a home setup on an ADSL connection, scaled to co-locating Dell PowerEdge servers in Østerbro, Copenhagen, then to dedicated servers in Germany, and now focus on cloud-based VPS solutions for reliability and ease of management. I thrive on optimizing systems, ensuring they’re secure, scalable, and efficient.

As a senior software developer, I’ve spent years refining my skills in backend development, primarily working with technologies like .NET, C#, MVC, Lucene, Solr, MongoDB, and SQL. I’ve focused heavily on custom data integrations and APIs, building robust solutions that connect systems seamlessly.

In past roles at companies, I naturally took ownership of our server infrastructure and maintenance. My drive to create high-performing systems made me the go-to person for the job. I’m all about applying tech practically to deliver real impact.

These days, I’m focused on privacy and security, ensuring every system I build prioritizes data protection while maintaining peak performance. I’ve worked with cloud technologies like Azure and Cloudflare to architect secure, scalable solutions. Whether I’m scripting workflows or fine-tuning infrastructure, my goal is to make tech work smarter. I also bring a strong understanding of the business as a whole. I can easily bridge the gap between developers, stakeholders, and end customers, ensuring everyone’s on the same page and solutions meet real-world needs.

In my younger years, I organized and helped run LAN parties for up to 200 guests, fueling my early passion for servers and tech communities.

In my spare time, I’m all about good food, whether I’m cooking something healthy, or enjoying a BBQ dinner with great friends. I also love hitting the gym to lift heavy things, pushing myself to get stronger while blasting some heavy metal. It’s the perfect way to unwind and recharge!

I’m excited to bring my expertise, passion for privacy-first solutions, and collaborative spirit to my team. Let’s build something incredible together!
